Life

Unpredictable. Ever-changing. Exciting. Challenging.

Sometimes I feel like I’ve lived many lives in just one.

Maybe I’ve said this here before. The truth is, I think about it often.

I was born in Venezuela and lived in different cities. When people ask me what part of Venezuela I’m from, I usually answer: all over. Although, officially, my passport says I was born in Ciudad Guayana.

I’ve lived in the United States, Panama, and now Canada.

And in every place, I’ve had to start over.

Adapt. Learn the customs. Discover new places. Find my people. Build routines. Make a home.

I always end up finding the beauty in each place, falling a little bit in love with it, and eventually not wanting to leave because, somehow, it has also become a part of me.

I feel like a citizen of the world, even though my nationality is still Venezuelan.

And maybe life has been a little like that too.

I’ve learned to inhabit many different versions of it.

I’ve lived incredibly beautiful moments, moments of absolute happiness when you feel like you couldn’t possibly need anything more. I’ve loved deeply. I’ve built a family. I’ve traveled, laughed, celebrated, and watched dreams come true.

And I’ve also lived through terribly difficult moments.

You’ve witnessed many of those here.

You’ve read about the immense pain of losing Sean.

My life changed completely in a single night.

The life I knew, the life I had built, the life I imagined for my future, was shattered.

I shattered too.

And ever since, I’ve been rebuilding.

Trying to understand this new life. Trying to find myself within it. Learning who I am now, what I want, where I’m going, and how to keep walking when the road you thought you would travel suddenly disappears.

And as I write this, I’m on a train heading home.

I look out the window and think about all the incredible things I’ve experienced.

About all the places that were once unfamiliar and somehow became home.

About all the versions of me who once thought they knew exactly what their future would look like.

About everything I had.

Everything I lost.

And everything life, unexpectedly, may still have waiting for me.

And I feel grateful.

Deeply grateful for every breath.

For the miracle of still being here.

For the possibility of rebuilding my life again and again, even when I never would have chosen to have to do it.

Resilience, they call it.

But to me, that’s simply life.

Falling. Changing. Losing. Finding. Loving. Crying. Starting over.

And discovering that even after the most painful chapters, the story continues.

Not because we forget what came before.

Not because what we lost stops mattering.

But because we are still alive.

And as long as there is life, there are still pages left to write.

Today, I feel like a new one has just begun.

Another chapter of this unpredictable life.

And how incredible it is to discover that, even after everything, there is always beauty.

I look at my life—all of it, with its joys, its losses, its beginnings and its goodbyes—and I can say something that, for a long time, I never thought I would feel again:

I feel incredibly fortunate to have this life of mine.

La vida

Impredecible. Cambiante. Emocionante. Desafiante.

He aprendido a habitar muchas versiones de ella.

He amado profundamente. He construido una familia. He viajado, he reído, he celebrado, he cumplido sueños.

Y también he vivido momentos terriblemente duros.

Caerse. Cambiar. Perder. Encontrar. Amar. Llorar. Volver a empezar.
