Peace of Mind
Let nothing disturb your peace of mind.
It’s not worth it.
Peace of mind is non negotiable.
I believe one of the truest forms of happiness comes when you learn to live at peace with yourself. When your well being doesn’t depend on anyone else, on any place, or on any thing.
When you begin to see life from a different perspective.
When your actions reflect what you carry inside, and you try to make sure that everything you do comes from a beautiful place, from love, never from a desire to hurt. When you understand that places and things lose value, and that it is people, moments, hugs, conversations, and the peace within a home that truly matter.
Life is short.
Much shorter than we sometimes want to accept.
And when you truly understand that, you also begin to question how much of what worries us, overwhelms us, or drains our energy is actually worth it.
Because so often, it isn’t.
One of the most valuable things we have is our peace. The harmony within our home. The ability to wake up every morning and, even in the midst of adversity, have the clarity to distinguish between the things we can control and the things we cannot.
Learning where to place our energy.
Understanding what deserves our concern.
Knowing what we can change and what we simply need to let go.
And like everything truly valuable, peace needs to be protected.
Life will always bring moments that shake us. Situations we cannot control, worries, changes, uncertainty. There will be days when everything seems to be exactly where it belongs, and others when it feels as though life has moved the ground beneath our feet once again.
Maybe peace isn’t about avoiding any of that.
Maybe it’s about learning how to return to ourselves.
If there is one thing I learned from my love with Sean, it is that peace reigned in our home.
Not because our life was perfect. Not because we never had problems or worries. But because there was a deep sense of calm in the way we lived and loved each other.
With him, I learned that many of life’s complications are also born from our own decisions. That we cannot control everything that happens to us, but we can often decide how we want to live through what happens to us.
And perhaps I only came to understand the full meaning of that lesson after losing him.
After living through the deepest and darkest pain of my life, I have managed to build a life of peace.
For myself.
For my children.
For our home.
Not a life without pain.
Not a perfect life.
A peaceful life.
And there is an enormous difference.
I have learned that I can miss him every single day and still feel peace. That I can carry an immense absence and, at the same time, feel deeply grateful for the life I still have. That difficult days can exist without my entire life having to become chaos.
It took too much for me to get here.
And that is why I know now that this peace is priceless.
I also know that it needs to be protected.
When something manages to disturb it, I am grateful that I now have the clarity to recognize it. To stop. To return to myself. To remember what is within my control and what is not. To ask myself whether whatever is taking up so much space in my mind truly deserves to be there.
Because not everything deserves our worry.
Not everything deserves our energy.
Not everything requires a response.
Not everything has to become a battle.
Some things simply need to be allowed to pass.
Others need to be released.
And sometimes, we need to remember everything it took to reach this place of calm in order to understand that returning to chaos can never be the answer.
After surviving things I once thought I could never survive, I learned that living in peace is also a choice.
One I want to keep making every single day.
Let nothing disturb your peace of mind.
It’s not worth it.
